Ohio Disability Vote Coalition in Action

Within the last two years ODVC has facilitated two major events. First, the Road to Freedom National Bus Tour was hosted by ODVC in Columbus and by our members in Toledo and Cleveland. The Road to Freedom Bus Tour was coordinated by ADA Watch and traveled the country with exhibits about the ADA as well as a variety of speakers discussing the ADA at each stop on the tour.

Most recently ODVC initiated and was the major planner in Ohio for the National Forum on Disability Issues. Partnering with the American Association of People with Disabilities and 80 Disability Organization sponsors, the Forum featured live interviews with Senator John McCain and Senator Tom Harkin (representing Senator Barrack Obama). The event drew approximately 500 people attending in person. More than 1000 others from across the U.S. watched the live webcast.

ODVC provides its members with resources to conduct registration and Get Out the Vote activities. This information might include voting rights updates, candidate information, phone banking procedures and event planning resources.

ODVC believes that List Enhancement is a key investment of time and money toward building our numbers to become a powerful voting block. Attached you will find a two page description of List Enhancement. If you would like to know more, please contact us.

Preparation is underway for activities surrounding major elections in 2010. Stay Tuned!
